flavidum
Dwarf but upright growing evergreen shrubs with small, shiny and dark green fragrant leaves. The broadly funnel-shaped yellow flowers appear in mid-spring. This rare (in cultivation) alpine species provides a nice color contrast with the purple and bluish shades so predominant in this subsection. Best in a cool but bright site with excellent drainage. Known only from NW Sichuan, China where it occurs in various alpine habitats from 10,000 to 13,000 ft.
1973/106 ROBB:BRY (-5\R2\3). Pale yellow flowers flushed red in bud.
1975/312 Glendoick (-5). Dwarf species, but of determined columnar habit with three-quarter inch glossy bright green leaves and very early sparkling lemon flowers.
