A low and mounding evergreen shrub usually growing wider than high with smooth and peeling red-brown bark.The elliptic, two-inch long leaves are densely covered on the upper surface and margins with bristly hairs.The flowers (early spring) are white with dark brown anthers and quite flattened in shape.Requires excellent drainage, good in sun or shade.Native only to SE Tibet where it occurs on cliffs and in trees from 8,000 to 10,000 ft.
