An interesting and attractive ornamental related to blueberries and rhododendrons. This is a tender evergreen shrub with large thick leathery leaves and racemes of striking rose-red flowers tipped with white. The flowers are shaped like a long narrow bell narrowing to the tip. The large berries are like fleshy reddish blueberries. Quite different from anything most people have seen in cultivation. Requires excellent drainage. |
